Professor Tony Warne
Tony Warne is a Professor Emeritus in Mental Health at the University of Salford. He retired in 2017 and was the former Dean of the School of Health and Society, and Pro Vice Chancellor for the ICZ programme.
He worked in NHS mental health care services since 1975, both as a practitioner, and service manager. After leaving the NHS in 1995 He joined Manchester Metropolitan University, gaining his PhD in 2000. In 2006, he was appointed Professor at the University of Salford.
The focus of his research interest is on inter-personal, intra-personal and extra-personal relationships, using a psychodynamic and managerialist analytical discourse. He has published extensively in these areas and is the co-editor and author of the books Using Patient Experience in Nurse Education and Creative Approaches to Health and Social Care Education.He was the former Nurse Representative on the Council of Deans (Health) Executive Committee which represent the 85 UK universities providing health care education.
He is currently a Non-Executive Director and Vice Chair for the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust, with a special interest in improving the quality and safety of patient care
